As Christian, we often focus on the universal message of salvation through Jesus Christ, and rightly so.

However, in our enthusiasm to share the Good News with the world, we must not forget the special place that the Jews and the people of Israel hold in God’s plan. The New Testament is clear: Israel’s story is far from over, and their return to the land of Israel is one of the greatest promises fulfilled.

Ā Romans 11:25-26

I do not want you to be ignorant of this mystery, brothers and sisters, so that you may not be conceited: Israel has experienced a hardening in part until the full number of the Gentiles has come in, and in this way all Israel will be saved.

This passage reminds us that Israel’s temporary hardening is not a permanent rejection, but rather a pause in their journey towards redemption.

Luke 21:24

They will fall by the sword and will be taken as prisoners to all the nations. Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.

This is heavy! This verse speaks of a future time when Jerusalem will be restored to its rightful place, and the people of Israel will be reunited with their land. We know there’s much opposition by the forces of darkness to this promise. Nevertheless, God’s promises remain.

Acts 1:6-7

The disciples ask Jesus, “Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?” Jesus replies, “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority.”

While Jesus does not give a specific timeline, his response implies that the restoration of Israel’s kingdom is indeed a future event, one that is still on God’s calendar.

These are only some of the many verses in the Old and the New Testament that remind us that Israel’s story is still unfolding.

As Christians, we must remember that our faith is rooted in the same biblical narrative that includes the people of Israel. We must pray for, support, and bless them, recognizing that their destiny is inextricably linked with our own.
